Chat bot, write me a short biography of an audio engineer for an educational conference.
Include braggy-but-not-too-braggy credits, since we place value on ourselves by our adjacency to famous people. Mention that, in the last 12 months, I've worked with Cave Radio, Greet Death, Atomic Punks, Bedouin Soundclash, Juliana Hatfield, Orchestra Noir, Ludo, NRG, Great Ghosts, Emily Wallace, and Saint Louis Chamber Chorus, among others.
Include flowery language about how I'm adept at live sound reinforcement, location recording, studio recording, mixing, and mastering.
Include that I've been an educator at Webster University for 18 years, but I've only been an adjunct.

Hey Garrison Brown here! I have been working in audio since 2013 with the humble start of mixing college open mic nights and dorm shows. My love for music and audio has lead me to a career as an audio engineer in various aspects of the industry. Realizing at a failing high school rock band practice, there is a not a future in being a rock star with long flowing hair, I become an audio engineer with long flowing hair. Combining a few years of engineering school at University of Illinois, an Audio Production B.S. degree (2017) from Webster University, my love for music and concerts and just a tad bit of crazy, resulted in a dynamic range of audio experiences. My current position is an AV Systems Engineer and Engineering Solutions Manager at TSI-Global with a focus in audio. The position involves quoting, designing, programming, commissioning and troubleshooting installed AV systems ranging from conference rooms, casinos, bars/restaurants, venues and sports arenas and managing and creating workflow solutions for the integration of AV equipment on customer sites. Freelance gigs include: Audio Engineering for concerts, live streams and on-site location recording for film and video. Love of creating community and supporting music and the arts has led to co-founding a non-profit Catholic Artists Network and Art Festival. Volunteering my time and talents in audio for this non-profit ministry has resulted in many blessings! If you pick me up in your polar pattern, feel free to turn up your pre-amp gain and say hi!

Katie Waters is a professional Foley Artist who transformed her love of performance into a thriving career creating sound for movies, video games, and podcasts. Growing up in Central Illinois, Katie was drawn to mimicking characters and acting like anyone but herself. During film school at Columbia College Chicago, Katie discovered her calling through a Foley class, where she learned about the pioneer Jack Foley. With her theater and athlete backgrounds combined, she was drawn to Foley's unique blend of performance and technical skill—where Foley Artists perform sounds live as they're recorded, then later edited to sync to the visual. After graduation, Katie built her career through internships before joining Noisefloor in Chicago in 2014 as Studio Manager. In 2016 she was promoted to Producer while occasionally performing Foley for projects. When Noisefloor built their Foley stage in 2020, Katie transitioned into their full time in-house Foley Artist, handling the complete process—cueing, performing, and editing sound effects. As a Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE) member, Katie's work has earned Golden Reel and G.A.N.G. Award nominations for Destiny 2's cinematic contributions. Katie has also Foley’d narrative films and pilots that have played in major film festivals such as Sundance Film Festival and SXSW. If you find yourself flipping through the online pages of Encyclopaedia Britannica and search “Foley”, you’ll find Katie explaining and showing the process of Foley. When Katie isn’t Foleying around, she occasionally supervises sound on films. When not on the Foley stage, Katie enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, true crime, and listening to actors' podcasts.

Nashville based producer/mixer/recording engineer Joe Carrell has accomplished a lot in his 25+ year career. 12 Grammy nominated albums mixed and/or recorded, Dove award winning songs and albums, Over 40 charting number ones mixed and many others recorded, Billboard top tens in multiple categories, and more. “I’m proud of those things, but that’s not what motivates me at all. What keeps me hungry is that feeling you get sitting in the chair at the end of mix and being moved...feeling like you made it everything it could be”. Joe got his break into the professional world as an assistant recording engineer to a member of Nashville's famed Bradley family. While having been a working musician much of his adult life, he quickly developed a great passion for the art of music recording, mixing, and production. That enthusiasm, combined with an uncommon work ethic, soon led to him becoming a very in demand professional. Being a great fan of many musical genres, he considers himself very fortunate to be hired consistently across a wide range of music. “My monthly schedules are so crazy diverse that I often find myself producing a pop artist while mixing everything from rock, country, jazz, gospel, bluegrass, etc. Then I’ll top off the month with several days of recording Nashville’s studio aces on rhythm dates with an orchestral recording day or two thrown in. It’s pretty crazy but I love it that way!” Despite the past accomplishments, he remains as excited now to enter the studio every morning as he did 25 years ago. "The first time I walked into a recording studio, I knew it's where I wanted to spend my life". And after speaking with him about the productions and collaborations he has on the horizon, it's easy to believe the best years are yet to come.

Brad and his wife Auset founded Sarno Music Solutions in the Spring of 2003. Their debut product was the Steel Guitar Black Box, a vacuum tube-driven tone enhancer originally intended to help pedal steel players reclaim some of that classic tube warmth and sweetness when using their more practical yet less toneful solid-state amplifiers. The Black Box took off better than ever expected and found homes not only with pedal steel players but also with electric guitarists, bassists, and especially with acoustic players ranging from fiddle to upright bass. Over the years since, SMS has continued to develop solutions-oriented audio devices for musicians including various high-end vacuum tube preamplifiers and guitar effects pedals. Brad juggles two full-time businesses, Blue Jade Audio Mastering which has been one of the St. Louis region’s primary audio mastering services since 1998, and he continues to design, develop, and hand-manufacture a number of Sarno Music Solutions audio devices.

As a teenager admiring rock bands and the idea of music as a career, Toby wanted to be part of the action. He was able to get into several recording studios early on and started recording at home. Discovering that his talent wasn't in front of the microphone, he decided the other side of the glass would work just as well. Starting out at a small one-room studio in Hollywood, Clover, the artists and producers on sessions found him to be an excellent engineer. Under the tutelage of mentors, Steve Copper, Tom Dowd, and others, he honed his craft of engineering and mixing. Among the artists coming into the Clover was Bruce Springsteen, finishing the final mix on his album, Darkness On The Edge Of Town. Toby and Bruce hit it off fairly well and 2 years later Bruce came back looking for a mixer for his next album, The River. Passing a brief audition, Toby spent months mixing to Bruce’s every request. Following that release, Bruce asked him to record live concerts on that tour. In between those occasional days on the tour, he was back in the studio with other artists, Bob Dylan and Bette Midler among them. In 1982, Bruce was back in Clover, this time producing an album for Gary US Bonds and having Toby mix. Once that was finished, Bruce wanted to commence work on his next record with Toby so it was off to New York City and the Power Station recording studio where they began work on Born In The USA. Subsequently, Toby moved to New York City as his home base and another tour and live recording. In 1987 Bruce had him set up a studio at his house in New Jersey with enough equipment to cover everything they needed. That turned into the Tunnel Of Love album, which was basically Bruce playing all instruments, and Toby recording and programming drum patterns with no other participants. This collaboration and process continued on successfully for another 20 years. During that time Toby was continuing to work with other clients and occasionally at his home in Whitefish Montana. In 2018 they parted ways and Toby worked full-time at his studio, Cabin 6 Recording. There he records everything from narrations, singer/songwriters, rock and country bands, and occasional remotes recording the local Glacier Symphony Orchestra. Always looking for a way to pass on his experience and knowledge to those upcoming in the industry, he speaks at colleges and other schools of audio engineering year-round.

Paul Aubuchon began playing piano at age 5,and by high school (CBC in St. Louis) was absorbed in music to the point of enrolling in every available music class. There he met Bob Horner (ISI) and Casey Hunter (Webster U) and they began performing together as “Strange Case”, enjoying solid college market success and releasing In Eleven Parts. (Thanks, Webster studios!)
After college, Paul spent 18 months touring the western US as part of a country music foursome. This taste of travel led to a 12 year stint as part of the Department of Defense Professional Entertainment Organization, both as a performer and tour manager. Visiting 43 countries, some multiple times, led to an awareness and respect for fundamental cultural and human differences, along with a lifetime’s worth of laughter, wonder, and crazy adventures.
After accompanying the Incarnate Word Academy H.S. choir on piano during a performance tour of Ireland, Paul was asked to become IWA’s Director of Music. During his 11 years at IWA, he was responsible for teaching 3 levels of choir, orchestra, piano, guitar, and created My Tunes, an immersive study of post WWII pop music with an emphasis on breakthrough female performers. Paul has enjoyed acting as Musical Director for more than 50 musical productions at local schools and churches, and has contributed piano and keyboard work on several albums covering country, pop, rock, and Christmas genres.
Throughout this time, Paul continued audio and lighting tech work on shows with Bob Horner at ISI. In 2016 he moved to a full-time position with ISI where, among other things, he oversees developing talent for the future growth of ISI with internship and training programs.

Hi, my name is Obeid Khan and I started out as a guitar player that needed to repair my amps, way before the knowledge base of the internet. I ended up working for one of the largest musical amplifier manufacturers, St Louis Music. At SLM I designed many classic amplifiers for Crate and Ampeg, the original Vintage Club and its variants, Ampeg Diamond Blue reissue amps, the B15 reissue, and the Ampeg SVTDI. Also, I was the designer of the Reason amplifier line, and most recently the new Magnatone line of amps. I always try to connect with the player sonically with my designs, I hope you will find this to be true as you learn more. The amplifier is a tool to make an electric guitar sound. These inherent rules I did not make, but I live and abide by them!

Known for his blend of technical proficiency, entrepreneurial insight, and relationship-driven strategy, Bob plays a central role in expanding Markey’s production capabilities, strengthening vendor alliances, and supporting operational excellence across multiple market segments. Bob’s professional journey began in music performance. While in high school and throughout his time at Webster University in the late 1980s, he performed as a guitarist and bassist in several bands—including the regional act “Strange Case” with Casey Hunter and Paul Aubuchon—while focusing academically on Music, Audio, and Business. During that period, he toured internationally for the U.S. Department of Defense for several years both before and after graduating in 1992 with degrees in Audio Engineering and Business Administration. In 1997, Bob transitioned from performing to professional production and founded Ironman Sound Industries LLC (ISI). Under his leadership, ISI built a strong regional reputation for reliability, technical precision, and high-quality event execution. Over time, ISI expanded into a nationally recognized, full-service production company serving the Music & Entertainment, Corporate, Institutional, Government, Military, and Political Campaign sectors. Today, as part of Markey’s Audio Visual, the organization delivers comprehensive audiovisual solutions—including Audio, Lighting, Staging, Soft Goods, and Video—across a national footprint. Throughout his career, Bob has provided technical production and consulting services for an extensive roster of notable artists and public figures, including Chuck Berry, Peter Mayer, Javier Mendoza, James Taylor, Joe Bonamassa, Rick Springfield, Run-D.M.C., Migos, Meek Mill, DMX, Ice Cube, Public Enemy, Boyz II Men, 2 Chainz, The Pointer Sisters, Travis Tritt, and Katt Williams, along with multiple U.S. Presidents, Senators, and First Ladies. Beyond production, Bob is actively engaged in industry collaboration and professional development. He serves as Vice President, Board Member, and Facilitator of Vendor Partnerships with the Event Production Network, strengthening relationships and standards across the live event supply chain. He also maintains a longstanding connection with Webster University, where he has helped establish internship and mentoring opportunities that have led to meaningful careers for graduates working in production roles at Markey’s and throughout the industry. In January 2023, ISI merged with Markey’s Audio Visual Inc., headquartered in Indianapolis and structured as an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) company operating across 12 states. The merger expanded the organization’s capabilities and created new opportunities for clients and staff alike. In his current role, Bob continues to drive operational performance in St. Louis while leading corporate vendor engagement and strategic growth initiatives, leveraging decades of field experience to support sustained organizational success.
